Great article; really captures what makes America (and Americans) special. The men in this article had such a zeal and curiosity that hardly anyone can understand today. These are the types that should be celebrated and remembered. Thanks for sharing!

And here lies the dilemma for the CCA. Conservatives meet conservation. How do you work with a conservative administration that is proposing drilling and hard rock mining on public lands that are very close to irreplaceable natural, areas. The irreplaceable areas that belong to all of us. Not just conservatives. Once these areas are damaged, they are damaged. Forever. And an administration that is actively reducing funding for the National Park Service and US Forest Service; two vital organizations committed to conservation. And an administration that is reversing conservation regulations that have been passed over decades meant to preserve our natural resources. I know many regulations over reach and ought to be modified. But the endangered species act? This addresses the very delicate balance of nature. These critters that are endangered are part of a very delicately balanced ecosystem. Will the loss of one affect the others? Maybe. But we need to at least talk about it. Just getting rid of all regulations is not a solution. Looking at them head on and proposing modifications is what makes the most sense.
